Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is seeking a Senior Optomechanical Engineer for space applications. This role involves contributing to the development of next-generation large-aperture space telescopes, optical payloads, and precision optical systems for U.S. national security and scientific missions. The position focuses on optomechanical design, precision mechanisms, structural and thermal performance, and the integration of optical systems into spacecraft environments. The engineer will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including engineers, scientists, physicists, and external partners, to create innovative optical systems for challenging operational settings. This position is within the Optomechanical Systems Engineering Group in the National Security Engineering Division (NSED), Engineering Directorate, and offers a hybrid schedule with the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week. The role may be filled at either a SES.3 or SES.4 level, depending on the candidate's qualifications.
