About The Position

CACI Danbury is seeking a Mechanical Engineer who reports to the Opto-Mechanical Systems Supervisor. This position is part of the Mechanical Engineering Department and supports design and analysis of hardware for complex opto-mechanical systems having requirements including precision stability, vibration & shock loads, extreme thermal and vacuum operation, and high reliability. Responsible for all tooling, fixtures and test equipment that satisfy system level requirements. In this position, you will be responsible for design and analysis in support of space, air, and ground based opto-optical payload systems.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of related work experience.
  • Experience participating in, and/or executing the design, analysis, development, fabrication, integration, verification, and compliance processes.
  • A background in opto-mechanical, electro-mechanical, thermal and/or structural systems development
  • Solid Modeling experience with CREO and Windchill PDMLink preferred.
  • Experience with Solid works or equivalent acceptable.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Power point, Excel)
  • Experience with MathCad and Matlab
  • Written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Can-do attitude with qualities conducive to teamwork and collaboration
  • Ownership of all tasks
  • Willingness to reach out to other departments and disciplines to drive tasks to completion.
  • Sole US citizenship is required. Candidates with dual citizenship will not be considered.
  • Capable of obtaining and holding a security clearance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the Engineering design processes for the design of both spaceflight and non-space-flight hardware while working with various Danbury Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to meet customer requirements.
  • Have ownership of the designs within the development process and support all team lead tasks.
  • Receive and understand requirements for component or subassemblies and develop concepts for meeting requirements.
  • Participate in the design and analysis effort for spaceflight and ground-support mechanical systems.
  • Receive and understand requirements for the component or subassembly assigned.
  • Use CREO 7.0+ to produce new design models and assembly layouts
  • Create detail drawings and Bill of Materials using data management software (PDMLink).
  • Prepare data packages for incorporation (release for procurement).
  • Use CREO Simulate and evaluate structural design performance.
  • Support projects from initial concept through system integration and test
  • Apply and modify Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances (GD&T) to precision parts and assemblies.
  • Complete and conduct various program communications such as status reports, meetings, and peer reviews.
  • Coordinate and/or assist in tooling and fixturing designs.
  • Defend all design and analysis activities thru the coordination of, and preparation for, internal design peer reviews as well as technical and programmatic review milestones (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, etc.).
  • Document all designs and analyses.
