About The Position

Anello Photonics is a leading-edge technology company based in Santa Clara, CA, that has developed an integrated photonic system-on-chip technology for next-generation navigation. Their SIPHOG™ gyroscope, based on patented photonic integrated circuit technology, offers higher performance, smaller size and weight, and a fraction of the cost of traditional gyros. This technology enables reliable and accurate navigation and positioning across various autonomous applications. Anello is currently in mid-level volume manufacturing, shipping products to market-leading customers in segments such as Construction, Farming, Trucking, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Autonomous Vehicles, and National Security. This position will focus on their next-generation offering, which is in the R&D stage, fully funded, and has customers in place for high-volume production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 10+ years of working experience in the field, or Master’s Degree and Ph.D. plus 7+ years of working experience in Mechanical and/or Optical Engineering.
  • Experience with CAD package, preferably Solidworks, Ansys, including FEA (Zemax experience a plus).
  • Solid knowledge of optical system, optical design and optical material.
  • Good experience and design skillset with opto mechanical assemblies.
  • Strong hands-on skill set on assembling, testing and troubleshooting capability with optical system.
  • Good experience with optical element vendors and design house for new product development as well as ramping up volume production.
  • Work effectively as a team player with other functional team members.
  • Reliable and independent work style, highly accountable and responsible for the outputs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced design, tolerancing, and FEA analysis for strain, vibrational nodes, model analysis, thermal and shock analysis.
  • Responsible for optical system design based on experimental and system modeling.
  • Capable of analysis of key performance metrics and derive tolerance errors and mechanical tolerance analysis.
  • Assemble, qualify, and debug new optical-mechanical module systems and subsystems, including light source, lens system and detection sensor.
  • Develop optical tooling and fixture to assist high-precision alignment and assembling process.
  • Establish optical subsystem build and qualification process and release reliable process to Manufacturing.
  • Work with the Manufacturing department & supplier to support volume ramp and optical quality control.
