Overall Purpose of the Job The Senior Operations Support Engineer – TRS provides advanced technical and operational support for Tubular Running Services equipment and systems. This role ensures safe, efficient, and reliable TRS operations by supporting field teams, troubleshooting technical issues, optimizing equipment performance, and assisting with product line engineering initiatives. The position works closely with operations, engineering, maintenance, and field personnel across multiple regions to maintain operational excellence and support Expro’s offshore and onshore drilling operations.

Requirements

  • 7–10+ years of experience in oil & gas operations, preferably in Tubular Running Services (TRS).
  • Strong understanding of offshore drilling operations and tubular handling equipment.
  • Engineering Qualification
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with global teams and remote field operations.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple operational priorities
  • Computer skills (MS office, AutoCAD desirable)
  • Primarily office-based technical support role with interaction with field operations.
  • May require occasional travel to offshore rigs, operational bases, and manufacturing facilities.
  • Must be able to support time-sensitive operational issues across multiple time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all activities: Workshop, Logistics, Stores/Purchasing and Certification are performed in a professional, efficient, safe and cost-effective manner to complete satisfaction of the customer – both internal and external.
  • Liaise with operational supervisors about activity levels and demands for operational equipment to ensure allocated resources can be in place.
  • Assist with the procurement of goods and services to meet operational and customer demands.
  • Act as the technical liaison between operations and engineering for TRS equipment.
  • Assist with product improvements, upgrades, and new equipment deployment.
  • Support engineering teams in design reviews, field trials, and qualification testing.
  • Encourage and develop inter-company / inter-base co-operation at all levels. Looking at resource sharing thus enabling the region and the Group to meet its contractual obligations.
  • Participate and attend regular meetings to discuss operational base issues and share updates on latest company policies, structure, future plans, technologies and safety related topics.
  • Ensure that all incidents are properly recorded and reported and that an investigation is carried out to establish and rectify root causes.
  • Take immediate and appropriate steps to investigate and rectify any risks to people or the environment arising from the work activity.
  • Support investigations and corrective actions related to operational or equipment safety events.
  • Provide technical mentoring and guidance to operations engineers and field technicians.
  • Support training programs for TRS equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations, operational guidelines, and lessons learned.
  • Actively adhere to the Code of Conduct and Anti-Bribery policies, procedures and processes to ensure the highest ethical standards are maintained and exposure to liability or risk to Expro’s reputation is minimized.
  • Provide leadership in all ethical issues; ensure employees are aware of Expro’s compliance requirements and feel able to report possible violations or conflicts of interest.
  • Actively adhere to and ensure compliance with applicable Quality policies, procedures, processes & systems. Take an active part in quality improvement processes. Act on reported deficiencies and approve deviations from standard procedures as appropriate.
  • Ensure that employees adhere to and comply with all applicable Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures and processes. Provide leadership in HSE; encourage employees to take responsibility and be accountable for their own and others’ safety and provide an environment where they feel authorized to stop any unsafe job.
  • Ensure that all incidents and non-conformances are reported in line with the appropriate procedures and deadlines; ensure that all incidents are investigated and corrective actions raised as required; where appropriate, participate in incident investigations.
  • Supervise, mentor and coach direct reports and ensure completion of their Employee Development Plans. Where applicable, ensure that training and competency programs are in place to facilitate the mentoring of subordinates through the competency system. Conduct competency assessments when required.
