About The Position

PE Systems, Inc. has a great opportunity for a Senior Operations Research Analyst supporting the Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) Program at Kirkland AFB, NM. The role involves using a range of methods, including forecasting and data mining, to examine and interpret data. The analyst will implement Operations Research (OR) techniques for consistent, predictive analysis of data to identify risks, issues, and opportunities within the Weapons System (WS). This includes identifying and tracking WS, constituent systems, risks, issues, and opportunities. Strong communication skills are essential for writing reports and presenting technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. The position requires strong critical-thinking skills, the ability to organize information, make connections between ideas, and collaborate with senior managers to solve problems and clarify objectives. Collaboration with others in the organization is necessary for successful implementation of solutions. Interpersonal skills are needed to work on teams and persuade management to accept recommendations. The role requires mathematical skills to create models and methods rooted in statistics, calculus, linear algebra, and other mathematics disciplines. The analyst will formulate mathematical or simulation models, diagnose problems, study relevant information, and perform validation and testing of models. Responsibilities include utilizing and tailoring identified risks for the WS Worthiness Assessment (WWA) process, aggregating and documenting RIO analysis results for leadership, supporting WS lead Command and program offices, and providing Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to leadership and stakeholders. The analyst will formulate and apply mathematical modeling and optimizing methods to assist management with decision-making and policy formulation. They will also develop and supply optimal time, cost, or logistics networks and develop, manage, and execute processes for assessing WS mission execution ability.

Requirements

  • Accredited BA Degree in operations research or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics.
  • 10 plus years of relevant experience.
  • At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
  • Must possess and maintain a government security clearance at the Top-Secret/SCI level.
  • Must have the ability to work on high-visibility or mission critical aspects of a given program and performs all functional duties independently.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft programs (including Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Must have strong communication skills, including the ability to write memos, reports, and other documents and often present the data and conclusions to managers and other executives.
  • Must have strong critical-thinking skills and must be able to organize information and make connections between ideas and facts.
  • Must have interpersonal skills with the ability to work on teams, persuade managers and executives to accept recommendations.
  • Shall have the math skills to create models and methods to conduct appropriate research.
  • Shall be able to formulate and apply mathematical modeling and other optimizing methods to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision making, policy formulation, or other managerial functions.
  • Shall have sufficient knowledge of applied mathematics to understand and use the fundamental concepts and techniques of operations research methods of analysis.
  • May collect and analyze data and develop decision support software, services, or products.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate mathematical or simulation models of problems, relating constants and variables, restrictions, alternatives, conflicting objectives, and their numerical parameters.
  • Diagnose problems and study relevant information to solve them.
  • Perform validation and testing of models to ensure adequacy and reformulate models as necessary.
  • Utilize and/or tailor identified risks for implementation into the WS Worthiness Assessment (WWA) process.
  • Aggregate and document the results of RIO analysis for presentation to AFNWC/NC leadership for situational awareness and to support decision-making.
  • Support WS lead Command, and program offices as directed.
  • Provide SME as required to AFNWC/NCW Division leadership and others within the AN/USQ-225 WS stakeholder community as directed.
  • Formulate and apply mathematical modeling and other optimizing methods to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision making, policy formulation, or other managerial functions.
  • Develop and supply optimal time, cost, or logistics networks for program evaluation, review, or implementation.
  • Develop, manage, and execute processes for assessing the WS ability to execute assigned missions.
