About The Position

Dow has an opening for a Senior Operations Performance Engineer to support our Polyurethanes Systems House site in Marietta, GA. In this role, you will drive safe, reliable, and profitable operations across production and logistics by applying leadership, technical expertise, and continuous improvement principles to optimize plant performance. You will analyze operational, quality, and logistics data to identify opportunities, validate results, and implement solutions that deliver measurable business value. You will also provide leadership during unplanned events, commissioning, start-up, and project handover activities, exercising decision-making authority and escalating issues as needed to support plant and business objectives.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering (chemical or mechanical engineering discipline is highly preferred).
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to safely work in a plant environment, meet physical demands, work at elevated heights, and comfortably use PPE and safety equipment (including harnesses with a total maximum weight capacity of 300lbs). Must be familiar with or open to training on proper equipment usage.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and categorize production losses and process deviations to identify performance improvement opportunities.
  • Analyze operational, quality, and logistics data to validate results, diagnose gaps, and drive corrective actions.
  • Identify, prioritize, and implement improvements that enhance utilization, yield, uptime, quality, reliability, and overall plant performance.
  • Lead and support capital and non-capital projects using established work processes to achieve plant, technology, and business objectives.
  • Provide leadership during plant maintenance activities, unplanned events, commissioning, start-up, and project handovers to Operations.
  • Partner with Maintenance, OTEC, and Process Expertise teams to resolve equipment issues and implement sustainable reliability improvements.
  • Support and promote EHS and process safety culture through compliance, incident reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Champion operating discipline, effective maintenance practices, and root cause problem solving to improve plant performance.
  • Provide input to turnaround scope development, focusing on availability, reliability, and performance opportunities.
  • Provide shift coverage support during turnarounds and other major plant events.
  • Lead and conduct Root Cause Investigations to identify and address underlying issues.
  • Participate in and/or lead plant teams to support operational and business objectives.
  • Participate in the Technical Team on-call rotation to provide off-hours support.
