About The Position

The Sr Operations Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating all activities of the Operations department at Medix Biochemica - Weston. This role involves planning and monitoring the day-to-day running of the custom order-to-delivery process, evaluating and improving manufacturing processes, managing procurement, and ensuring the availability of facility, equipment, and personnel for product manufacturing. The position also oversees order fulfillment, adjusts operational budgets for profitability, evaluates overall performance through data analysis, establishes manufacturing standards, and ensures equipment operates in accordance with protocols. Additionally, the role involves maintaining and reviewing manufacturing batch records, overseeing the Clean Room Manufacturing environment, reviewing change orders and deviations, and managing the site safety program. Collaboration with QC to ensure product specifications are met, employee development through skill set improvement initiatives, monitoring employee productivity, and maintaining accurate ERP system data are also key responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned to support the Manufacturing department, including general cleaning, and adherence to ISO 13485 Quality Standards is required.

Requirements

  • Minimum, 7-10 years of experience in biochemical manufacturing.
  • The individual must be self-motivated, hardworking, and willing to put extra effort into going above and beyond the minimum requirements.
  • At least a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, engineering, or a related field.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to verbally communicate with team members and coworkers to achieve tasks effectively and to write and record simple notes and figures.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to use the Microsoft® Office suite of programs, Adobe Acrobat, and other office and scientific software.
  • Ability to graph or track data produced during typical manufacturing procedures.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership by setting clear expectations, aligning team priorities with business objectives, developing employees through coaching and feedback, and fostering a culture of accountability, safety, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and monitor the day-to-day running of custom order-to-delivery process to ensure smooth chain from material suppliers to customers
  • Evaluate the efficiency of manufacturing processes and apply improvements (Lean Manufacturing)
  • Manage Procurement processes and coordinate material and resources allocation
  • Support Procurement Sourcing Initiatives and inventory goals
  • Assure that the facility, equipment and personnel are available for product manufacturing
  • Oversee order fulfillment to enhance customer satisfaction
  • Review financial information/revenue margins and adjust operational budgets to promote profitability
  • Evaluate overall performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics
  • Establish manufacturing standards to ensure manufacturing personnel perform daily tasks properly
  • Ensure equipment is operated in accordance with current protocols
  • Maintain and review manufacturing batch records for completion and accuracy
  • Maintain and oversee the Clean Room Manufacturing environment
  • Review change orders, nonconforming reports, deviation requests etc.
  • Oversee site Safety program; Direct and coordinate departmental safety and training
  • Work with QC to analyze and ensure that specifications of starting materials, work-in-progress and final products are met
  • Develop employees through skill set improvement initiatives (Lean, coaching, etc)
  • Monitor employee productivity and satisfaction, provide constructive feedback
  • Maintain accurate ERP system data and use the system to monitor and report operational information
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed, including general cleaning and any other functions to support the Manufacturing department
  • Adhere to ISO 13485 Quality Standards
