The Senior Officer, Legislative Affairs and New Entry (LANE) Division reviews and assesses applications from Federally Regulated Financial Institutions (FRFIs) as well as from applicants wishing to establish operations under the FRFI statutes administered by OSFI and develops recommendations for the Minister of Finance and the Superintendent of Financial Institutions. In carrying out these tasks, the Senior Officer is expected to conduct research, analysis and consultation to identify any prudential, legislative, precedential, compliance and public policy issues that may pertain to the application. The position also supports a consistent, transparent and responsive approvals framework; contributes to legislative and policy analysis affecting federally regulated financial institutions; builds effective working relationships with a wide range of internal stakeholders, other federal departments and agencies, provincial regulators, applicants and their representatives; and coordinates or contributes to the development, application and maintenance of procedures, reports, policy instruments and, papers and, including guidance or any other formal OSFI regulatory and supervisory documents.
