The Senior Occupational Therapist provides adult outpatient hand therapy at Brigham and Women's Hospital, working at the Chestnut Hill clinic and the Boston Longwood Medical Area campus. The therapist works closely with hand surgeons as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently manages patient care in a busy clinic, including triaging walk-in consultations. The role requires strong clinical knowledge and skills in rehabilitation of the hand, wrist, forearm, and elbow, along with the ability to serve as a clinical or non-clinical resource. In addition to evaluating patients, formulating occupational therapy diagnoses, and developing treatment plans to maximize function, the Senior Occupational Therapist takes on delegated clinical and non-clinical responsibilities. These may include staff orientation, committee participation, quality improvement activities, student and aide supervision, practice guideline development, quality assurance, referral triage, supply and equipment recommendations, and participation in departmental policy and program development.
