About The Position

Vacancy is in the Department of Families, Children, & Youth. Under supervision of the Department of Families, Children, & Youth (DFCY), provides guidance and support to Family Home Daycare Providers in applying, training, managing, and retaining the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) funding. Supports Family Home Daycare Providers through education and development of guidelines to follow for CACFP, along with processing applications, documentation of activities, trainings, development of program materials and reports. Supports developing a plan to implement and expand the Go NAPSACC Program and the Farm to ECE (Early Childhood Education) initiatives for Family Daycare Providers. Incumbent(s) may be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends. In addition, incumbent(s) may perform additional related duties as required. This is a 1716 union position. The hours of work are 40 per week. This is a grant-funded position renewable on an annual basis. The City of Hartford is not obligated to fund this position upon termination of funding.

Requirements

  • Completion of at least two years of college, preferably with courses in nutrition or dietetics
  • Two (2) years of experience interviewing, at least one of which must have been with pregnant women or mothers with pre-school aged children.
  • A COPY OF YOUR DEGREE OR TRANSCRIPT MUST BE ATTACHED TO YOUR APPLICATION.
  • Knowledge of Nutrition principles and practices
  • Knowledge of Techniques of interviewing and methods of establishing clients' financial status and eligibility for the program
  • Knowledge of Social and welfare agencies, institutions, clinics, and allied cooperating agencies in the community.
  • Ability to Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to Maintain simple records and to perform a variety of routine functions
  • Ability to Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, representatives of other agencies, other employees and the general public
  • Ability to Express oneself clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
  • Must pass a physical examination administered by a City physician.
  • Must pass a drug and alcohol screening examination.
  • Must pass a background check.
