About The Position

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Nuclear Safety & Criticality Consultant opportunity in Richland, WA for the DOE Hanford Field Office. This role provides mission-critical support to the Department of Energy (DOE), Hanford Field Office (HFO), Assistant Manager for Safety and Quality (AMSQ), Nuclear Safety Division (NSD). The consultant will offer senior-level nuclear safety consulting services in program and project management, and criticality safety consulting for the One Hanford program. This includes focusing on special activities, identified problem areas, and supporting criticality safety needs through direct observation and involvement in relevant activities as determined by the Technical Monitor. The position involves reviewing contractor reports and submittals against One Hanford procedures and DOE standards (DOE-STD-3009, DOE-STD-3007, DOE-STD-1104, 10 CFR 830), and periodically overseeing criticality-related operations. The consultant will also assist in preparing Safety Evaluation Reports and other approval documentation, support readiness and startup assessment activities, and review DSA safety management programs and supporting documents. All work must comply with One Hanford procedures, directions from the technical monitor, and the Quality Assurance Implementation Plan (DOE-PPD-QA-50552).

Requirements

• BS/BA degree in engineering, science or related field.
• Experience consulting or contributing on complex projects, including providing strategic, management, or technical assistance to significant projects or programs in a senior capacity and/or as a consultant.
• Specialized knowledge of criticality safety and implementing the ANSI/ANS-8 Standards.
• Experience working at a senior level to improve major projects and programs.
• Experience consulting or contributing to organizational or technical issues and assists in problem solving.
• Successful experience in technical or management roles and proven skills in developing plans that yield positive organizational improvements.
• Expert level knowledge of criticality and nuclear safety related controls and requirements.
• Working level knowledge of HFO mission, activities, and priorities.
• Working level knowledge of DOE program and project management practices, policies, and procedures.
• Excellent communications skills.
• A knowledge of MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and/or other MS Office tools.
• United States Citizenship

Responsibilities

• Provides mission-critical support at the Hanford site, providing senior level nuclear safety consulting services in the area of program and project management.
• Perform criticality safety consulting services related to One Hanford program needs, focusing on special activities, identified problem areas, and support any criticality safety related needs by direct observation and involvement in relevant activities as determined by the Technical Monitor.
• Provide reviews of contractor reports and submittals to One Hanford procedures and DOE-STD-3009, DOE-STD-3007, DOE-STD-1104 and 10 CFR 830.
• Provide periodic oversight of criticality related operations conducted by One Hanford Projects to One Hanford procedures and DOE-STD- 3009 and DOE-STD-3007, as appropriate.
• Assist in the preparation of Safety Evaluation Reports, or other approval documentation, associated with the above related activities.
• Assist in performance of readiness and startup assessment activities.
• Assist review of DSA safety management programs and evaluation of support documents.
• Deliverables shall be accomplished in accordance with One Hanford procedures and directions provided by the technical monitor.
• All work performed under this task order must be in compliance with the requirements set by the Quality Assurance Implementation Plan (DOE-PPD-QA-50552) and associated implementing procedures.
