Requirements
- B.S. or MS degree in Engineering.
- Minimum five (5) years of NCS experience, preferably in an NRC licensed fuel cycle facility.
- A working knowledge of SCALE/KENO.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
Nice To Haves
- Nuclear Engineering degree is preferred.
- Familiarity with 10 CFR part 70 is beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Perform Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) evaluations to define the safety basis for operation of new or changing facilities, equipment, or processes involving uranium bearing materials.
- Execute computer models to evaluate normal operations and process upsets relative to NRC License limits and requirements.
- Evaluate accident sequences and designate Items Relied on For Safety to prevent a criticality accident from occurring.
- Perform routine surveillance, inspections, and audits of areas where licensed material is used or stored to ensure compliance with NRC License requirements.
- Provide operational areas with specific NCS input and oversight as necessary.
