The Senior Nonqualified Deferred Compensation Specialist is a highly skilled individual contributor responsible for the administration, operational oversight, and continuous improvement of nonqualified deferred compensation plans and related executive benefit arrangements. Operating with minimal supervision and wide latitude for independent judgment, this role serves as a technical and operational resource supporting executive-level participants, highly valued participants, plan sponsors, participant representatives, and internal business partners. This position independently oversees complex plan activity, resolves escalated issues, supports key quality-control processes, and contributes to implementations, system testing, remediation, and process-improvement initiatives that deliver meaningful results and drive outcomes that advance enterprise strategy. Requirements

5+ years of progressive experience in retirement plan administration, NQDC administration, executive benefits, recordkeeping, trust or custody operations, payroll, financial-services operations, or a related regulated environment.
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, employee benefits, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Direct experience administering NQDC plans or executive benefit arrangements, with advanced knowledge of NQDC operations and working knowledge of Section 409A administrative requirements.
Ability to interpret and apply plan documents, adoption agreements, participant elections, procedures, and technical documentation.
Experience executing and verifying complex financial transactions, account corrections, distributions, reconciliations, and participant-data changes.
Experience researching operational failures, significant processing errors, data discrepancies, or complex participant issues and coordinating resolution.
Proficiency with retirement recordkeeping platforms, participant-accounting systems, operational reporting tools, and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Ability to analyze detailed financial, payroll, plan, and participant data and communicate conclusions clearly.
Strong organization, prioritization, and follow-through across multiple deadlines.
Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, manage ambiguity, and make recommendations on high-impact issues.
Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality, data integrity, service quality, and operational control.
Must have complete confidentiality regarding GuideStone business matters.

Professional designation such as NQPC, CEBS, QKA, Retirement Plans Associate, or a comparable retirement or benefits credential, preferred.

Responsibilities

Serve as a senior subject-matter resource for nonqualified deferred compensation plans, including 409A plans and, as applicable, 457(b), 457(f), supplemental executive retirement, excess benefit, restoration, and other executive benefit arrangements.
Administer and oversee the full plan lifecycle, including eligibility, enrollment, deferral and payment elections, contributions, vesting, notional investment allocations, participant data, distributions, forfeitures, beneficiary activity, reconciliation, reporting, corrections, and plan changes.
Review and interpret plan documents, adoption agreements, participant elections, administrative forms, procedures, and related documentation; process complex, sensitive, and high-impact transactions carrying financial, regulatory, operational, or reputational risk.
Serve as a senior operational resource for executive-level participants, HVPs, plan sponsors, and participant representatives; resolve escalated inquiries with professionalism, discretion, accuracy, urgency, and clear nontechnical communication, dedicating effort to communicate well, seek input, and contribute to shared goals.
Monitor plan activity for operational failures, documentation gaps, incorrect or late transactions, inconsistent elections, and data discrepancies; research issues and coordinate approved corrections with Compliance, Legal, Tax, Payroll, Finance, Technology, and other partners.
Maintain and enhance quality controls, automated queries, exception reports, verification layers, reconciliations, data-validation routines, and peer-review processes; support audits, control testing, regulatory reviews, and compliance reporting.
Support new-plan setup, employer onboarding, conversions, takeover plans, enrollment launches, amendments, system changes, data cleanup, remediation, and other specialized projects, including business requirements and testing.
Evaluate systems, procedures, and workflows and recommend improvements that strengthen accuracy, scalability, efficiency, control effectiveness, and participant service, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional growth and mastery of job; maintain procedures, forms, letters, knowledge articles, training materials, and operational manuals.
Assist Specialists with technical guidance and real-time coaching, contribute to cross-functional workstreams, and support workflow prioritization, applying skills to complete a broad range of tasks and displaying integrity, heart and skill to reflect our Christ-centered vision and mission.
