The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the implementation, administration, monitoring, and support of enterprise network infrastructure across on-premises datacenters and cloud environments. The role requires strong technical expertise in Cisco networking and F5 technologies, with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues, support day-to-day operations, and contribute to infrastructure improvements. The engineer serves as an L2/L3 escalation point, ensuring network stability, availability, performance, and compliance with operational standards while working closely with senior engineers, architects, cloud teams, and security teams.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience supporting Cisco routing and switching environments, including Catalyst 9K, ASR, OSPF, BGP, VLANs, and WAN technologies.
  • Working knowledge of F5 BIG-IP technologies, including LTM, GTM/DNS, SSL certificate management, and load balancing.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking, VPNs, NAT, QoS, DNS, DHCP, and network security concepts.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network incidents and performance issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Support major incident troubleshooting and restoration activities.
  • Analyze recurring issues and identify opportunities for operational improvements.
  • Identify network design limitations and recommend improvement opportunities to senior engineers and architects.
  • Provide technical input for infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives.
  • Support network implementation projects by validating configurations and operational readiness.
  • Assist with evaluating new technologies and operational enhancements.
  • A minimum of 5 years of enterprise networking experience supporting Cisco, F5, and cloud networking technologies in a managed services or large enterprise environment.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent (minimum 12 years) work experience. (If Associate Degree, must have minimum 6 years work experience)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Cisco routing and switching infrastructure, including Catalyst 9K, ASR, OSPF, BGP, and related technologies.
  • Support SD-WAN and DMVPN solutions to provide reliable WAN connectivity.
  • Maintain F5 BIG-IP load balancing solutions.
  • Serve as an L2/L3 escalation point for network-related incidents and service requests.
  • Troubleshoot routing, switching, load balancing, cloud connectivity, wireless, and WAN-related issues.
  • Participate in Major Incident Management (MIM) calls and provide technical expertise during service restoration activities.
  • Perform root cause analysis and contribute to problem management activities.
  • Utilize monitoring tools such as SolarWinds to identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Execute standard, normal, and emergency changes following ITIL processes and established operational procedures.
  • Perform device upgrades, patching, firmware updates, and configuration changes.
  • Conduct network health checks, performance assessments, and capacity reviews.
  • Maintain network documentation, including topology diagrams, IP address inventories, implementation procedures, and operational runbooks.
  • Support Cisco Wireless, Cisco ISE, and ACI environments as required.
  • Identify recurring operational challenges and recommend improvements to enhance network reliability and performance.
  • Participate in process improvement and automation initiatives.
  • Support implementation of infrastructure modernization and cloud networking initiatives.
  • Contribute to operational standards, knowledge articles, and technical documentation.
  • Work closely with cloud, server, security, and datacenter teams to support integrated infrastructure solutions.
  • Collaborate with vendors and third-party providers during troubleshooting and implementation activities.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior team members and share operational best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders during incidents, change activities, and project implementations.
