The Senior Network Engineer performs network services from network design through implementation, maintenance, and upgrading of existing networks, analyzes design, specifications, and related documents, and performs general LAN/CAN/WAN administration, scheduling conversions and cutovers. Requirements

  • Twelve (12) years of relevant professional experience providing Network Engineering support.
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline.
  • TS/SCI with FSP Clearance.
  • A Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security Systems Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two (2) years of experience, thereby reducing the total years of experience to six (6).
  • Five (5) additional years of relevant experience providing Network Engineering support may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

  • Perform network services from network design through implementation, maintenance, and upgrading of existing networks.
  • Analyze design, specifications, and related documents.
  • Perform general LAN/CAN/WAN administration.
  • Schedule conversions and cutovers.
  • Provide input to the design of the organization's network and mission architecture.
  • Report any known or suspected COMSEC incidents immediately.
  • Perform configuration, test, deployment, and maintenance to all network equipment.
  • Configure and optimize the network to connect various front-end and back-end components.
  • Minimize network latency and maximize data throughput through design analysis and network performance monitoring tools.
  • Develop algorithms used in modules or incorporated into models associated with the research and development of technologies and systems.
  • Ensure that all material received is inspected for evidence of tampering and, if any is found, submit a report of suspected physical incident immediately.
  • Configure and maintain organization's network diagrams and accreditations.
  • Integrate hardware and software to satisfy ISO 9000 requirements and other DoD/IC regulations.
  • Design, integrate, test, and deploy solutions to established network issues.
  • Optimize end-to-end system performance and dataflow management.
  • Coordinate with appropriate dataflow organizations and end-customer recipients, follow-on data repositories and tasking organizations and mitigate potential adverse impacts on system-wide dataflow.
  • Implement specific network solutions to support server requirements to include loadbalancing, VPN's, firewall contexts, Traffic Shaping Voice over IP (VoIP), IP Encryption, Media over IP (MoIP), and network address translation.
  • Coordinate with the system engineering and dataflow efforts to ensure proper mission operations to minimize down time.
  • Design solutions, integrate, configure, deploy, test and provide ongoing maintenance for numerous types of network devices, interfaces and methodologies.
  • Gather needed data to specify system/component performance and interface requirements.
  • Manage, develop work schedules and direct the work of junior level engineers.
