Senior Network Engineer
About The Position
Responsible for the architecture, implementation, support, monitoring and trouble-shooting of the Firm’s LAN/ WAN infrastructure. This includes all Intel servers, network security, remote access, and voice/data communications. The role involves providing Tier 3 end-user support for over 1,800 users across 18 or more geographic locations and supporting a Service Level Agreement that articulates uptime and performance commitments to the user community. The Senior Network Engineer will establish and maintain system standards, including documentation, configuration, and implementation, as well as standard procedures for performance optimization, backup and recovery, and growth planning. This role also includes testing and evaluating new hardware, software, and upgrades as directed by management, overseeing the work of Network Specialists and Engineers in switching and routing, and acting as a technical contact for vendors regarding the Firm’s networked systems and applications. Key responsibilities also include designing, implementing, and supporting system security (Firewall and Intrusion Detection Systems), telephony systems, all user remote access methods, and data backup and recovery methodology and processes. The position requires maintaining proper documentation on all aspects of the Firm’s Infrastructure systems, a general understanding of the Firm’s software application systems, and keeping up-to-date product knowledge of pertinent infrastructure software and hardware.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree and 7 years of experience; equivalent combination of education, training and experience may substitute for education requirement.
- Interpersonal communication skills necessary in order to maintain effective relationships with attorneys, clients and staff in person, by e-mail and telephone.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- A demonstrated ability to creatively diagnose and solve complex problems involving hardware, software and end users.
- A proven ability to lead and build consensus among peers and staff.
Responsibilities
