About The Position

Empower AI is seeking a Senior Network Engineer for an exciting opportunity at the Department of State. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, and evolution of the network and supporting systems that comprise the global network infrastructure for the customer. The Senior Network Engineer will direct and participate in high-level enterprise architecture analysis, evaluation, design, integration, documentation, and development across the global network (LAN, WAN, CAN, VLAN). This position requires applying high-level business and technical principles to solve complex technical problems and develop creative engineering solutions. The engineer will make recommendations to management on desirable network solutions and opportunities, lead groups of engineers, architects, and analysts, and ensure adherence to quality standards. Responsibilities include researching, evaluating, and documenting new products and tools, planning for network expansion or optimization, and interacting with vendors for new equipment and services. The role also involves troubleshooting complex network problems, acting as a high-level escalation point for Network Engineers, performing engineering, security design, implementation, and maintenance tasks on Unified Communications Systems, and researching, evaluating, and approving hardware and software solutions. Additionally, the Senior Network Engineer will develop, review, and execute complex implementation plans for network/system upgrades, design and document new network elements, and provide guidance to junior staff members.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience
  • Bachelor's in IT or related field
  • Secret Security Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Direct and participate in high-level enterprise architecture analysis, evaluation, design, integration, documentation, and development across the global network (LAN, WAN, CAN, VLAN).
  • Apply high-level business and technical principles and methods to very difficult technical problems to arrive at creative engineering solutions.
  • Make recommendations to management on desirable network solutions and opportunities.
  • Lead a groups of engineers, architects, and analysts and ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews enterprise architecture deliverables.
  • Research, evaluate and document new products and tools.
  • Continually plan for the expansion or optimization of networks.
  • Regularly interact with vendors for the purposes of investigating new equipment and services.
  • Serve as a troubleshooter on complex network problems on all Tier 2 and incident tickets of all priorities.
  • Act as a high-level escalation point for Network Engineers.
  • Perform complex engineering, security design, implementation and maintenance tasks on Unified Communications Systems.
  • Research, evaluate and approve hardware and software solutions for complex problems and solutions.
  • Develop, review and execute complex implementation plans for network/system upgrades.
  • Design and document new network elements and provide guidance to junior staff members.
