About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Network Architect to lead the strategy, architecture, and execution of Altera’s network transformation initiatives across IT and Business Unit (BU) lab environments. In this role, you will define and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance network architectures that support both current and future business requirements. You will work closely with IT, Engineering, Integration teams, security teams, and external service providers to modernize network infrastructure, enable hybrid cloud connectivity, and ensure a smooth transition from existing environments to the future-state network. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in enterprise network architecture and transformation, strong hands-on knowledge of routing and switching technologies, and experience integrating cloud environments such as AWS and Azure with large-scale on-premises infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field, with 10+ years of professional experience in enterprise networking.
• 10+ years of experience designing, architecting, and implementing large-scale enterprise network infrastructure across multiple sites or global environments.
• 10+ years of experience with enterprise networking technologies, including routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, wireless networking, network segmentation, and high-availability architectures.
• 10+ years of experience leading or supporting complex network transformation, modernization, migration, or infrastructure integration initiatives.
• 10+ years of experience designing and implementing hybrid cloud network architectures, including secure connectivity between on-premises infrastructure and cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Azure.
• 10+ years of experience partnering with cross-functional IT, security, engineering, integration, and external service provider teams to deliver complex network solutions.
• 10+ years of experience developing network architecture standards, technical documentation, migration strategies, and operational best practices for scalable and secure enterprise environments.

Nice To Haves

• CCNP, CCIE, AWS Certified Networking, Azure networking certification, or equivalent industry certification.
• Experience supporting engineering, semiconductor, manufacturing, laboratory, or other highly technical environments.
• Experience with network automation, software-defined networking, or infrastructure as code.

Responsibilities

• Lead network transformation initiatives by developing the technical strategy, architecture, roadmap, and execution plans for enterprise IT and BU lab environments.
• Develop detailed network architecture and migration plans that enable transition to future-state infrastructure while minimizing business disruption and downtime.
• Assess existing network infrastructure, equipment, configurations, and dependencies and determine opportunities to optimize, integrate, replace, or modernize components as part of the transformation.
• Define network topology, routing and switching architecture, protocols, segmentation, and configurations that meet current and future business requirements.
• Design scalable, highly available, secure, and resilient enterprise network architectures.
• Develop strategies for seamless integration of cloud services, including AWS and Azure, into Altera’s global network infrastructure.
• Architect hybrid cloud networking solutions that provide secure and efficient connectivity between on-premises data centers, engineering environments, laboratories, and cloud resources.
• Collaborate with Integration teams, IT infrastructure teams, cybersecurity teams, and external service providers to design and implement reliable connectivity solutions.
• Evaluate network technologies and solutions and provide technical recommendations based on business requirements, scalability, performance, security, and cost.
• Ensure network transformation initiatives align with applicable security, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
• Partner with cybersecurity teams to incorporate appropriate network security controls, segmentation, firewall policies, VPN connectivity, and access controls into network architecture.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network architectures, topologies, configurations, standards, policies, migration plans, and operational procedures.
• Establish network architecture standards, design principles, and best practices that promote consistency, scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to network engineering and operations teams throughout architecture, implementation, migration, and optimization activities.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, automation, standardization, and modernization of network operations.
• Troubleshoot and provide architectural guidance for complex network connectivity, performance, and reliability issues.
• Stay current with emerging enterprise networking, cloud networking, automation, and security technologies and assess their applicability to Altera’s environment.
