The Senior Network Administrator, positioned in the Glen Allen, Virginia office will be responsible for designing, building, creating, and implementing the IT communications network across the enterprise. This includes, but is not limited to, planning, developing, installing, configuring, testing, modifying, maintaining, and supporting all local and wide area network connections, associated software, and communications links. The qualified individual will utilize effective communication and problem-solving skills when interacting with the user and IT community to ensure that the infrastructure meets existing and planned business needs. We look to this individual to manage the monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network equipment, software, and communication links and analyze and resolve IT communications issues in a timely and accurate manner. Essential responsibilities include: System Security - Prioritize defense initiatives and coordinate the evaluation, deployment, and management of security technologies. Infrastructure Management – Lead design, implementation and review of local and wide area IT communications network. Vendor Relationship Management - Negotiate contracts (initial purchase, maintenance renewal, consulting service agreement) with communications equipment vendors and service providers. External Relationship (Member, ACES, PJM) - Work with members, transmission owners, generation sites, regional transmission organizations (e.g., PJM), and power marketing group (ACES) to maintain accurate and reliable real-time data flow. Business Continuity – Participate in disaster recovery planning, implementation, and testing to confirm appropriate system recovery capabilities or detect faults and perform remediation.
