Senior NEPA Environmental Scientist
About The Position
BB&E is an employee-owned full service civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm, headquartered in Northville, Michigan, which services both the Federal and Industrial sectors throughout the United States. BB&E team members provide Environmental Consulting, Facilities Engineering and Program/Project Management Services to Federal and private sectors. BB&E is currently looking for a Senior-level NEPA Environmental Scientist to provide support to ensure programs are in compliance with environmental planning considerations, including National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), environmental justice (EJ), wetlands, natural resources, coastal zone resources, and floodplains management at Joint Base San Antonio, Lackland, AFB.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a NACI/CAC is required
- Strong knowledge of federal environmental regulations
- Knowledge of NEPA processes, natural resource management regulations, and environmental compliance requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences; demonstrated experience in preparing correspondence, written reports, and in briefing management personnel
- MS Office software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- A minimum of ten (10) years of Environmental Planning, NEPA or related experience is required.
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Sciences is required.
- Must be able to walk, sit, and/or stand for extended periods for multiple days/weeks
- Able to operate office equipment, including computers, copy machine, phone, etc.
- Capable of light lifting, up to 50 lbs.
- Able to work both indoors/outdoor (with exposure to the elements)
- Able to walk/climb/knee/crouch and reach
- Able to work on rough terrain when necessary
- Able to work in confined spaces and/or heights
- Able to wear the required PPE, minimally wear gloves, a hard hat, a respirator, and steel-toe boots that may be in combination with protective clothing/suits, a respirator, and/or a fall restraint/recovery harness
- Exposure to hazards/contaminants at times
Responsibilities
- Oversee project tracking and regular updates to high-visibility trackers
- Provide program analytics support including goals and metrics
- Provide strategic planning for the EIAP Assessment process including EQ reporting
- Ensure timely submittals of all deliverables
- Coordinate comment consolidation within the team and from proponents and stakeholders
- Provide records management including annual reviews of records and provide recommendations
- Provide process improvement recommendations to streamline the NEPA process
