Incumbent serves as Senior Nature Staff for Hamilton County Parks and Recreation Department, responsible for assisting in developing, coordinating, and supervising nature related programs and maintaining Cool Creek Nature Center. This is a part-time, non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $14.25 per hour. The role requires assisting in developing, coordinating, and supervising nature-related programs and maintaining the Cool Creek Nature Center. The Senior Nature Staff acts as the lead staff in the absence of the Superintendent and/or Naturalist, performing duties such as opening and closing the Nature Center, gift shop, and greenhouse, delegating work assignments, greeting visitors, answering questions, and providing education and information. This position is also responsible for maintaining daily logs, assembling exhibits, displays, and collections, and maintaining the greenhouse and related exhibits. The role involves implementing nature and day camp programs, classes, and environmental programs, assisting guest speakers, and developing/coordinating nature programs and activities like leading hikes and bird walks. Additionally, the Senior Nature Staff conducts vegetation and wildlife studies, maintains park grounds, organizes program activities, assists with animal husbandry, maintains document files, prepares reports, and performs janitorial duties at the Nature Center and greenhouse. The position also involves assisting volunteers and performing related duties as assigned.
