Senior MySQL DBA/ Database Administrator Lead
About The Position
The Senior MySQL DBA will have responsibility primarily for MySQL database technologies. This role involves installing, patching, upgrading, configuring, tuning, and maintaining MySQL databases, with a focus on versions 8.0.x and 8.4.x, including migration to specific versions like 8.0.42 and 8.4.5. The position requires innovation and implementation of InnoDB clustering across multiple data centers, troubleshooting critical performance bottlenecks, and reviewing database design changes. Collaboration with IT teams and vendors, representing the database group in projects, and managing database security according to PNC policy are key aspects. The role also includes monitoring, maintaining, and backing up databases, reviewing stress testing results, and automating tasks to streamline processes. Experience with automated installation and patching is considered a plus, as is mentoring and supporting team members.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of MySQL storage engines
- Strong knowledge of MySQL 8.x and new features
- Automated Failover Solutions
- TDE (At Rest Encryption)
- MySQL best practices and standards
- Workarounds for MySQL limitations
- ODBC/JDBC client/server communication
- Shell and SQL scripting automation
- Bachelor's in IT-related field
- Visa independent (Citizen, Green Card, EAD, H4)
Nice To Haves
- Experience with automated installation and patching is a plus
- Certifications are a big plus
- Banking or Financial experience is preferred
