About The Position

We are building a new class of consumer hardware — a product that will fundamentally change how people experience and interact with their living spaces. We’re in stealth mode for now, but the ambition is large, the opportunity is massive, and the early team will define the future of the company. We are hiring a senior mobile engineer to own the consumer app end-to-end across iOS and Android. The app is the primary surface our customers interact with – for discovery, purchase, setup, and day-to-day control of the product. This is a foundational hire with a broad scope across commerce, connectivity, and computer vision. Applicants are required to reside in New York or be willing to relocate there. We do not offer visa sponsorship or assistance, so applicants must already be authorized to work in the US at the time of hire. Resumes and communication must be submitted in English. The app spans the full customer journey across four workstreams: Commerce (Product discovery, configuration, checkout, payments, order tracking, and post‑purchase), Measurement (A guided camera‑based measurement flow using AprilTag fiducials for pose estimation and scale reference with an accuracy target of millimeter‑level, designed for users with no prior measurement experience), Setup and connectivity (BLE pairing and provisioning, Wi‑Fi handoff, firmware updates, and ongoing device control with close collaboration with the firmware team on the API contract), and Daily control (Schedules, scenes, rooms, notifications, and the reliability surface for living with a connected product).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • 5+ years shipping production consumer mobile apps. The candidate should be able to point to at least one publicly available app they built or significantly contributed to.
  • Deep expertise in at least one native platform (Swift / SwiftUI or Kotlin / Compose) and working knowledge of the other.
  • Direct experience shipping commerce features: checkout, payments (Stripe, Apple Pay, Google Pay), and related flows.
  • Computer vision experience on mobile. The candidate should understand camera calibration, coordinate frames, pose estimation, and homographies — not just at an API‑call level. Hands‑on experience with AprilTag, ArUco, ChArUco, or comparable fiducial / feature‑based tracking work is required.
  • Strong product sensibility and attention to craft. The candidate should care about the experience at the level of motion, copy, and error handling, not only functional correctness.
  • Experience with connected hardware: BLE, Wi‑Fi provisioning, OTA firmware updates, Matter / Thread, HomeKit, or Google Home.
  • Background in AR, 3D reconstruction, or spatial computing (published work, open source, or shipped product).
  • Experience at an early‑stage startup, particularly one shipping both hardware and software.
  • Comfort working closely with designers and hardware/firmware engineers.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly growing company and handle a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a diverse array of contacts.
  • Must be a world-class individual contributor.
  • Regularly and reliably attend scheduled virtual team meetings on camera.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Use all required digital collaboration tools.
  • Prioritize and self-manage workflows and deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Cross‑platform shipping experience preferred.
  • Candidates with equivalent SLAM, photogrammetry, or AR measurement experience should be considered.
  • Subscription or recurring‑revenue commerce experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own architecture, delivery, and quality of the consumer app in iOS and Android.
  • Design and ship the commerce experience, including payments and order flows.
  • Build the computer-vision-based measurement pipeline: AprilTag detection, pose estimation, camera calibration, multi-frame fusion, and the accompanying capture UX.
  • Build the BLE / Wi-Fi connectivity layer and device control surface, in partnership with firmware.
  • Set up and maintain the app’s production infrastructure: CI/CD, crash reporting, analytics, feature flags, and release management.
  • Partner with design on onboarding, error states, and the craft details that define a consumer-grade experience.
  • Contribute to mobile team growth: technical bar-setting, interviewing, and mentorship as the team scales.

Benefits

  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • medical, dental, and vision health insurance plans
  • basic life insurance coverage
  • short-term and long-term disability coverage
  • flexible spending, dependent care, and health savings accounts
  • telehealth virtual doctors
  • employee assistance program
  • flexible paid time off
