Senior ML Infrastructure Engineer
About The Position
Arlo is rebuilding health insurance for small businesses from first principles, aiming to maximize the portion of premium dollars that go towards care rather than system overhead. They achieve this by identifying fraud, guiding members to cost-effective care, automating operations, and eliminating unnecessary vendors. Artificial intelligence is central to their strategy, applied across underwriting, operations, clinical programs, and member experience to create a more efficient insurer. Requirements
- A strong track record of building scalable data systems and pipelines in production.
- Deep proficiency in Spark, Databricks, and modern data processing infrastructure (AWS or equivalent).
- Fluency across SQL, PySpark, Python, and Git.
- Ability to own workstreams end-to-end with minimal oversight.
- Strong communication skills and a highly analytical mindset.
- Ability to work with non-technical partners to turn requirements into action.
- Ability to test and analyze own work before it ships.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in a regulated space like healthcare or insurance.
- Experience supporting data science or actuarial teams in production environments.
Responsibilities
- Own the data infrastructure and core data platform pipelines that drive underwriting and claims.
- Partner with data scientists and actuaries to turn business logic into production code, owning the underwriting pipeline end-to-end.
- Set the standards for how data systems are built, monitored, and operated, establishing SLAs, on-call practices, and monitoring for the team.
