About The Position

AV is looking for a highly talented Senior Missile System Structural Engineer to join our Huntsville team. In this role you will be part of AV's team providing Systems Engineering Technical Assistance to the Missile Defense Agency Ground-based Midcourse Dense (MDA/GMD) Product Office under the Teams-Next Missile Defense Systems Engineering (TN-MDSE) contract managed by the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). Job Description: Conduct analysis of interceptor missile system and/or launch and ground system structures, structural mechanics, failure modes, and fatigue analysis. Support missile/ground system structural requirements development, coordination and verification activities in support of the MDA/GMD Product Office. Support and lead multi-disciplinary Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM) and Working Groups (WG) with missile defense Government and Industry partners. Coordinate and support execution of TIMs and/or WGs in the absence of Government Product Office Chairs. Document activities, actions, and Executive Summaries of structural analysis TIMs and WGs.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) field
  • Minimum of 12+ years of related professional experience in mechanical/aerospace structural analysis
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an integrated Govt/Industry multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • ITAR Requirement: This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”). In order to comply with the requirements of the ITAR and/or the EAR, applicants will be asked to provide specific documentation to verify U.S. person status under the ITAR and the EAR. A “U.S. person” according to their definition is a U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or protected individual such as a refugee, or asylee. See 22 CFR § 120.15. Some positions will require current U.S. Citizenship due to contract requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Top Secret Clearance or eligibility for TS upgrade as required
  • Demonstrated experience with Ground-based Missile Defense interceptors, launch or ground systems
  • Demonstrated experience with Missile Defense Agency managed weapon systems
