About The Position

AECOM is seeking an experienced and highly motivated surface Senior Mining Engineer II to provide technical leadership on complex mining projects across North America. The successful candidate will support mining projects from early-stage studies through detailed engineering and construction support while serving as a senior technical resource for multidisciplinary project teams. This individual will work closely with project managers and engineering discipline leads to develop practical, innovative engineering solutions for mining clients. The role requires strong technical expertise, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Mining Engineering or related engineering field and 6+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of progressive mining engineering experience.
  • Prior experience in using Minesight (MPSO), Deswik (Spatial-LHS-IS), Datamine (NPVS/Minemax), Vulcan or similar software.
  • Prior experience in using Whittle software.
  • Prior experience involving prefeasibility and feasibility studies.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with clients to identify and implement forward-thinking mining solutions encompassing mine access planning, mining method selection, mine development strategies, and infrastructure requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise in open pit design and phase planning to optimize resource extraction and operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate and define haulage systems, fleet requirements, and equipment strategies to support production objectives.
  • Develop and optimize mine schedules and production plans to maximize project value, productivity, and operational performance.
  • Support the development of capital and operating cost estimates to evaluate project feasibility and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Coordinate closely with mining, civil, geotechnical, structural, mechanical, electrical, process, environmental, and water resources engineering teams.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, engineering calculations, specifications, and design packages.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews and resolve technical challenges throughout project execution.
  • Support construction engineering activities, field investigations, commissioning, and operational troubleshooting as required.
  • Travel 20% of time domestically and internationally, possibly involving extended assignments.
  • Ensure engineering work complies with client requirements, industry standards, and AECOM quality procedures.
