About The Position

The Senior Millwork Operator produces high-quality custom millwork by operating and maintaining woodworking machinery. This role requires strong technical skills and precision while supporting safe, efficient workflow, quality control, training, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of experience in millwork, cabinetry, or woodworking production.
  • Proficiency with industrial woodworking machinery and measurement tools.
  • Strong understanding of wood species, materials, and machining characteristics.
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and cut sheets.
  • Commitment to safety, accuracy, and craftsmanship.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. as needed.
  • Standing, bending, and moving throughout the production area for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in a shop environment with noise, dust, and machinery.
  • Attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving ability.
  • Strong communication and teamwork.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Time management and ability to meet production deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in custom millwork, architectural components, or commercial cabinetry.
  • Leadership or training experience in a production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of millwork machinery, such as planers, jointers, table saws, molders, sanders, and edge banders.
  • Read and interpret shop drawings, cut lists, and specifications to produce accurate components.
  • Set up machines, adjust tooling, and verify measurements to maintain tight tolerance.
  • Inspect finished products for quality, consistency, and adherence to standards.
  • Serve as a technical resource for junior operators and production staff.
  • Train team members on equipment operation, safety procedures, and best practices.
  • Assist supervisors with workflow planning and prioritizing daily production tasks.
  • Follow all safety protocols and ensure others do the same.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs.
  • Identify equipment issues early and communicate repair needs promptly.
  • Monitor material usage and minimize waste through efficient cutting and planning.
  • Recommend process improvements to increase productivity and reduce downtime.
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
