Senior Microgrid Automation Engineer

Leidos•Framingham, MA

About The Position

Leidos Energy is hiring a Senior Microgrid Automation Engineer to join a diverse, fast-paced organization. The role works with other electric utility disciplines and contributes to leading and designing microgrid and renewable energy projects. It also includes planning and engineering for utility telecommunications systems and projects, coordinating with internal engineering departments, external contractors, and utility construction crews, and visiting project sites to gather information about existing conditions. The engineer applies knowledge of microgrid control systems and automation technologies, microgrid operating concepts, renewable energy technologies, distributed energy resources, power electronics, protection and control design, communication protocols, and power-system modeling. The position includes acceptance testing and hardware-in-the-loop testing, preparation of project schedules and budgets, and development of drawings and specifications for utility telecommunications projects. Occasional field work in rough terrain to access remote project locations is required. Leidos describes opportunities for technical and non-technical training, interaction with utility clients, leadership, and mentorship.
