About The Position

We are currently seeking a Senior Metallurgical Engineer for our Metallurgical and Corrosion Engineering Practice in Houston, TX. In this role you will work as part of a team to conduct materials, metallurgical, and mechanical failure investigations, field inspections, and perform materials characterization and specialized testing.

Requirements

Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and a familiarity with Mechanical Engineering
Minimum of at least 3 years of industry experience
Strong background in materials characterization techniques (e.g. metallography, SEM, EDS, and/or X-ray radiography/diffraction, etc.) is required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work within project teams with a strong desire to contribute to the team
Knowledge of failure analysis desired
Presently legally authorized to work in the US, no immigration sponsorship or visa processing required

Nice To Haves

Licensure as a professional engineer (PE) in Metallurgical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred but not required.
Certification through the American Petroleum Institute’s Individual Certification Programs (e.g., API 580) is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Conducting hands-on failure analyses
Materials characterization, metallurgical analysis
Planning, coordinating, and executing laboratory testing
Conducting field inspections
Effective presentation of results to technical and non-technical clients and staff
Communicating effectively with other engineers, technicians, managers, clients, and administrative staff
