About The Position

Made In is a company that produces and sells professional-grade cookware and kitchenware through multiple channels including direct-to-consumer (DTC), wholesale, Amazon, and international markets. They are seeking a Senior Merchant to manage the global product assortment, ensuring it aligns with channel strategies, margin targets, and sell-through goals. This role involves working at the intersection of product development and commerce, translating a global product line into channel-specific assortments while maintaining brand positioning. The Senior Merchant will be responsible for the entire product lifecycle, assortment architecture, pricing, margin management, and collaboration with planning and product teams.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in merchandising, buying, or category management for a multi-channel consumer brand.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a category's margin and sell-through.
  • Experience across multiple channels, including DTC and wholesale; marketplace (Amazon) and international experience is a strong plus.
  • Fluent in retail math, markup, IMU, margin, AUR, sell-through, OTB, and inventory productivity.
  • Ability to make trade-offs across revenue, margin, and inventory with imperfect information.
  • Experience partnering with Product teams to shape product lines and defend commercial logic.
  • Systems-fluent with advanced Excel.
  • Experience with a planning tool (Anaplan/Toolio-class).
  • Experience with a PLM.
  • Experience with NuOrder or similar for wholesale.
  • Experience with an ERP (NetSuite).
  • Experience with Shopify/BI.
  • An 'automate first, headcount later' mentality.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the global product line and assortment architecture, including product lifecycle, newness cadence, and SKU exits.
  • Create and lead a product lifecycle calendar from concept to launch.
  • Develop a deliberate assortment architecture with price tiers, target initial markup, and clear roles for each SKU.
  • Partner with Product and Design teams to incorporate commercial and channel perspectives into product creation.
  • Analyze SKU productivity and provide data-backed recommendations for scaling, fixing, or discontinuing products.
  • Develop and execute channel-right strategies for DTC, Wholesale, Amazon, and International markets, ensuring brand consistency and regional relevance.
  • Protect full-price storytelling and manage on-site assortment logic, sets, and attach strategies for DTC.
  • Build margin-aware assortments for wholesale partners, considering customer needs and space constraints.
  • Determine SKU placement on marketplaces versus DTC/wholesale, manage MAP governance, and address channel conflict.
  • Localize international assortments based on cost, margin, and market-specific realities.
  • Take accountability for sales, gross margin, and growth targets across all channels and categories.
  • Own the pricing architecture and promotional recommendations to protect margins.
  • Present category performance and provide action-oriented responses to business trends.
  • Set the assortment and financial strategy for the Planning team.
  • Collaborate with planners on open-to-buy, forecasting, and inventory flow.
  • Drive optimization in sell-through, margin, and inventory health in partnership with sales, planning, and product teams.
