About The Position

As a Senior Merchant over Pet Services at Walmart, you will lead category strategy and financial management for a complex portfolio, driving customer-centric decisions across multiple channels. You will oversee team performance, collaborate cross-functionally, and leverage data insights to inform strategic initiatives. The Pet Services Team leads the merchandising strategy by engaging with customers, suppliers, and operators across multiple channels. This team drives category strategy, pricing, and supplier management while overseeing financial performance and project execution. They utilize data insights to inform decisions and support community development and other customer first centric plans. The team fosters collaboration and continuous improvement to meet business objectives and enhance customer experience. With a focus on operational excellence and strategic initiatives, the team ensures alignment across functions to deliver value and maintain competitive positioning in the market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising or related field and 4 years’ experience in merchandising, buying, financial planning, operations, or related area.
  • OR 6 years’ experience in merchandising, buying, financial planning, operations, or related area.
  • 1 years’ supervisory experience.
  • Proven expertise in category and financial management, including profit and loss accountability for complex categories.
  • Strong negotiation skills with experience managing supplier relationships and driving price leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute category and channel strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Effective team management capabilities, including mentoring, performance evaluation, and fostering engagement.
  • Proficiency in leveraging data analytics and digital tools to inform decisions and optimize merchandising strategies.
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills to influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience in project management and business strategy development within a retail environment.
