About The Position

The Sr. Merchandising Analyst is part of a specialized, high-impact team responsible for driving rapid improvements across merchandising. The role leverages data, analytics, AI, and process optimization to unlock growth, eliminate inefficiencies, and accelerate Sysco Brand performance. Operating in an agile, project-based model, the Analyst acts as an internal accelerator—deploying against the most critical business opportunities while applying core merchandising principles, market trend analysis, and consumer behavior insights to drive sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause diagnostics.
  • Proficiency in Tableau, Power BI, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel advanced).
  • Data analysis, reporting, and dashboard-building skills.
  • Process mapping, workflow redesign, and automation aptitude (bots / AI familiarity).
  • Knowledge of inventory management, assortment, and pricing principles.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an agile, project-based environment.
  • Experience with retail, foodservice, or e-commerce platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and execute high-impact opportunities by assessing merchandising processes for inefficiencies, time waste, and revenue gaps; deliver short-cycle initiatives across categories, vendors, pricing, and assortment.
  • Drive process optimization by mapping, redesigning, and standardizing workflows; eliminate manual, non-value-added work through simplification and automation; build repeatable playbooks.
  • Leverage data and analytics using Tableau, Power BI, and internal systems to identify performance gaps; build dashboards and translate data into actionable recommendations.
  • Accelerate Sysco Brand growth by analyzing assortment, pricing, and vendor performance to drive margin and penetration; partner with sales and merchandising to convert insights into field actions.
  • Develop automation, AI, and digital solutions by designing and deploying bots and AI-driven tools; partner with IT and digital teams to pilot new capabilities.
  • Recommend product assortment, pricing, and promotional activity; support promotional campaign execution and KPI reporting.
  • Lead project-based transformation work end-to-end (diagnostic → design → execution) with clear timelines, deliverables, and measurable outcomes (time saved, revenue, margin).
  • Collaborate and influence cross-functionally with merchandising, supply chain, sales, finance, and IT; maintain strong vendor relationships.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement — embed a test-and-learn mindset, scale successful initiatives, and coach teams on process discipline.
