Senior MEP Project Manager - Data Center Construction
About The Position
Mortenson is seeking an experienced Senior MEP Project Manager to provide overall direction and leadership on a Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP)-dominant data center project or on MEP scopes of work for medium to large data center-related projects. The role may involve managing project quality, timeliness, and safety, mentoring the project team, and developing customer relationships through excellent service. Strong communication skills are needed to interact with staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment. Flexibility, inventiveness, dedication, efficiency, integrity, and confidentiality are important to success in this role. The position offers opportunities at Senior MEP Project Manager I and II levels, with candidates considered based on experience and qualifications. Accepted locations are Pampa, Texas, and Minneapolis, Minnesota. Compensation depends on factors including experience and location. The role is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan. Visa sponsorship is not offered.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil or Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent field experience.
- Demonstrated ability to fulfill development-to-closeout responsibilities for complex projects.
- Detail orientation sufficient to organize and run multiple project tasks.
- Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office, project, and pertinent web application skills.
- Positive and professional attitude and strong customer service skills.
- Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies.
- For Senior MEP Project Manager II: minimum ten years of construction management experience, preferably with a Mechanical or Electrical Contractor, and at least five years of experience building data centers.
- Current driver’s license.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without employment visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities
- Supervise the overall financial health of data center projects.
- Develop and maintain project financial and equipment projections.
- Determine and allocate project estimates into the financial system.
- Determine cost codes, approve invoices, and manage budgets.
- Provide financial information and billings to Accounting for timely payment.
- Create monthly owner billings.
- Handle subcontracts and suppliers.
- Oversee budgets and select trade partners and suppliers.
- Manage billings and contract management, including buyouts.
- Supervise the 3-D coordination process to resolve conflicts before installation.
- Manage project quality, timeliness, and safety, and mentor the project team.
- Develop and improve customer relationships by providing excellent service.
