About The Position

This posting represents an on-call day shift position for a Senior Medication Aide in Long Term Care at Providence Child Center in Portland, Oregon. Our Long-Term Care unit has 46 beds, serving both pediatric and adult patients who are medically fragile. Residents range from children with complex developmental and neurological conditions to adults with chronic illnesses and disabilities. Some residents require long-term ventilator support, tracheostomy care, and all require some assistance with activities of daily living. The team is committed to providing compassionate, resident-centered care in a nurturing environment, with a strong culture of teamwork and respect. The unit is known for its exceptional continuity of care and an interdisciplinary approach, working closely with respiratory therapy, rehab, and social work. The role involves accurate medication administration, observing residents for drug reactions, managing medication processes, procedures, storage, and the medication room. The Senior Medication Aide acts as a Subject Matter Expert in drug interactions, medication management, and administration, while maintaining a safe environment under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse (RN or LPN).

Requirements

  • Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement
  • Upon hire: Oregon Certified Medication Aide
  • Upon hire: Oregon Nursing Assistant Certification License
  • Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
  • Upon hire: In Compliance with the Department of Human Services (DHS), a criminal background check is required for this position
  • 1 year experience as a CMA in a health care setting
