About The Position

The Senior Medical Writer will be responsible for planning, preparing, developing, and reviewing scientific/medical content across various formats, accurately interpreting data, communicating effectively with clients and medical experts, managing projects efficiently, and collaborating with internal teams to produce high-quality deliverables.

Requirements

  • PhD, PharmD, MD, or advanced nursing degree
  • A minimum of 1.5 years professional medical writing experience, preferably at a scientific communications agency
  • Prior experience with developing slide decks, analyzing clinical trial data, summarizing scientific literature about a specific disease state or other topic, etc.
  • Excellent writing and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple timelines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and PubMed/Google Scholar databases

Nice To Haves

  • Presentation of own research at conferences, with publication of scientific manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals a plus

Responsibilities

  • Participate in internal meetings and external meetings with clients and medical experts, providing pre- and post-meeting materials as needed
  • Create accurate scientific/medical writing on a variety of medical communication and promotional projects
  • Serve as a therapeutic category expert while working in cross-functional teams
  • Translate scientific concepts into promotional content in collaboration with copywriters, creative directors, and medical directors
  • Research (eg, literature or competitor searches)
  • Stay up-to-date on scientific developments and their medical implications
  • Understand the clinical utility of therapeutic choices within disease states
  • Ensure quality standards of promotional medical writing
  • Mentor and review work of junior team members as appropriate
  • Support new business initiatives as needed
  • Represent the agency with the highest standards in all endeavors
