About The Position

Amgen is hiring a field-based Senior Medical Science Liaison for its Inflammation team, covering NYC, Manhattan, Long Island, and Connecticut. The role serves as a primary scientific and clinical resource for opinion leaders, population health decision makers, healthcare providers, clinical investigators, and other stakeholders. The MSL executes Amgen Medical and product strategy through accurate, balanced, and scientifically rigorous exchange intended to support improved patient outcomes. The role engages healthcare providers across Pulmonology, Allergy, ENT, and Gastroenterology, prioritizing engagement according to local patient pathways, referral networks, scientific opportunity, and indication-expansion readiness. It is part of the U.S. Medical team and reports to an Inflammation Respiratory/GI MSL Director. The position requires approximately 60–70% travel for territory engagement, conferences, workshops, and company meetings.

Requirements

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Medical Affairs experience; or a master’s degree and 6 years of Medical Affairs experience; or a bachelor’s degree and 8 years of Medical Affairs experience.
Seven or more years of experience in a medically related field, including at least one year focused on clinical practice, clinical research, or medical research. Medically related experience may include postdoctoral training, such as a residency or fellowship.
At least two years of experience in a Medical Science Liaison role at a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company, with current Scientific Affairs or Medical Affairs experience.

Nice To Haves

Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., or D.O.; other doctoral degrees will be considered.
Expertise in Respiratory, Gastroenterology, and/or Inflammation.
Experience working in the designated territory.

Responsibilities

Spend most of the time in peer-to-peer scientific exchange with Respiratory, Gastroenterology, and related indication-expansion stakeholders, including opinion leaders, community healthcare providers, and population health decision makers.
Engage clinical investigators and research sites in support of the therapeutic-area pipeline, as appropriate.
Communicate scientific evidence on clinical value, outcomes, and health economics to population health decision makers within territory health systems and clinics.
Connect external and internal stakeholders to support Amgen’s reach and patient access.
Conduct focused, balanced, in-depth scientific exchange consistent with MSL compliance standards.
Support Amgen-sponsored research and, as appropriate, serve as a study lead.
Liaise with potential investigators regarding non-sponsored clinical research.
Gather, interpret, and present field observations and insights to inform internal strategies.
Lead congress activities aligned with medical strategy.
Support speaker training and help ensure speakers are current on new data.
Lead or participate in project teams supporting MSL strategies and tactics, as delegated by MSL leadership.
Partner compliantly across Amgen field roles that share customers to provide a coordinated One Amgen experience.
Help healthcare providers address unmet patient needs and care gaps through evidence-based scientific exchange.
Mentor other MSLs as designated by MSL leadership.
Complete administrative responsibilities and required training, including CRM documentation, expense reports, and compliance modules, in a timely manner.
Maintain and advance clinical and scientific expertise, including knowledge of current data and healthcare trends.
Build and maintain strong external stakeholder relationships and communicate scientific data effectively.
