About The Position

This is a field-based Senior Medical Science Liaison position in the Bone therapeutic area within Amgen’s US Medical Organization. The territory includes Charlotte and Western North Carolina. The role engages Bone Opinion Leaders and other healthcare decision makers to communicate and advance Amgen’s scientific platform in alignment with corporate goals and objectives. The Senior MSL communicates balanced, clinically valuable scientific information, builds relationships with external and internal stakeholders, supports research and congress activities, and shares field insights to inform strategy. The role also supports speaker training, project teams, coordinated engagement across Amgen field roles, and mentoring of other MSLs as designated by leadership. It requires maintaining scientific expertise, completing administrative and training responsibilities, and helping healthcare professionals improve patient care by addressing care gaps.

Requirements

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Medical Affairs experience, or master’s degree and 6 years of Medical Affairs experience, or bachelor’s degree and 8 years of Medical Affairs experience.
Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate scientific data.
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., or D.O.; other doctoral degrees will be considered.
Seven or more years in a medically related field, including 1 year focused on clinical practice, clinical research, or medical research. Postdoctoral training, including residencies and fellowships, may count as medically related experience.
Two or more years in a medical science liaison role at a biotech or pharmaceutical company.
Current experience in Scientific Affairs or Medical Affairs at a biotech or pharmaceutical company.
Bone Health expertise.
Experience with the designated territory.

Responsibilities

Engage with PHDMs within assigned IDNs and other institutions to communicate scientific data on clinical value, outcomes, and economics.
Connect external and internal stakeholders to amplify Amgen’s reach and patient access.
Conduct in-depth scientific exchange, providing focused and balanced clinical and scientific information in accordance with MSL compliance standards.
Support Amgen-sponsored research and potentially serve as a study lead.
Liaise with potential investigators in non-sponsored clinical research.
Provide and present field observations and insights to internal stakeholders to inform Amgen strategies.
Lead and support congress activities in alignment with strategy.
Support speaker training as requested and ensure speakers are updated on new data.
Lead or participate in project teams supporting MSL strategies and tactics, as delegated by MSL leadership.
Partner compliantly with Amgen field roles that share customers to create a coordinated One Amgen experience.
Help healthcare professionals take action to improve patient care by closing care gaps.
Mentor other MSLs as designated by MSL leadership.
Complete administrative responsibilities and training, including Veeva CRM, expense reports, and compliance modules, in a timely manner.
Maintain and improve clinical and scientific expertise using current data, information, and healthcare trends.
Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders and effectively communicate scientific data.
