About The Position

Shepley Bulfinch is seeking a Senior Healthcare Planner to work directly with institutional healthcare clients and internal teams on projects of all scales. The role is advertised in Houston, Texas, but is hybrid and may be based at any of the firm’s five studio locations. The Senior Healthcare Planner oversees programming and space-planning needs, develops an understanding of stakeholders’ visions, goals, operational needs, and spatial requirements, and synthesizes these with design concepts. Depending on project scale, the role may lead an internal planning team and monitor tasks, deadlines, and milestones. The role also supports business development by maintaining relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and other partners, and collaborating with Marketing on project stories, concept imagery, and written content. The planner develops and communicates planning concepts in verbal, written, and graphic formats; coordinates with the Project Design Lead and consultants; and assists the Project Manager with project workplans, team structure, assignments, and deliverables. Other duties include leading user-group, stakeholder, and public meetings; developing space plans; maintaining program documentation; leading regulatory approval documentation as needed; staying current on planning trends, delivery systems, codes, regulations, and evidence-based design; and mentoring emerging Project Planners. Shepley Bulfinch is a national architecture and design firm with offices in Boston, Hartford, Houston, Phoenix, and Durham. Founded in 1874, the firm describes a legacy of challenging convention, pioneering design ideas, and collaborating with clients seeking measurable change.
