About The Position

Texas Oncology is seeking a full-time, Certified Medical Physicist (MS) or (PhD) to join their regional group of three radiation oncology centers in the Rio Grande Valley. The primary center will be in Harlingen, Texas. Texas Oncology is the largest community oncology provider in the country, dedicated to making high-quality cancer care accessible. As part of the network, you will collaborate with other physicists, participate in vendor webinars, journal clubs, and physics committees. The position is based in Harlingen, Texas, offering a family-centric lifestyle with amenities of a large city and the charm of a small town, with South Padre Island nearby. Texas Oncology aims to be the premier provider of oncology and hematology care in the Southwest, focusing on patient satisfaction, advancing clinical research, and developing innovative treatments.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Physics or Medical Physics from an accredited college or university.
  • ABR certified, or have completed a CAMPEP approved residency and be board eligible.
  • Working experience in a clinical environment.
  • Texas Medical Board license required or must be obtained.

Responsibilities

  • Periodic evaluation of all equipment for continued utility, appropriateness, reliable performance, age, and condition to make recommendations on practical life span, obsolescence, and replacement
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of all aspects of the quality management program that includes the use of external beam radiotherapy equipment as well as the review and proposal of changes to procedures followed by radiation therapy staff
  • Assist in the management of radiation oncology information systems, including development of usage protocols, maintenance, and data storage
  • Radiation safety duties for the practice, including assisting with employee monitoring, reports, and regulatory issues
  • Lead or participate in clinical projects to improve department processes or patient treatments
