About The Position

Cedars-Sinai is seeking a Senior Medical Assistant for their OBGYN department at Fair Oaks. This role involves positive patient relations, efficient communication, and comprehensive patient care. The Senior Medical Assistant will prepare patients for examinations, take vital signs, record patient history, and assist with appointment scheduling and demographic/insurance information. This position requires the ability to work with minimal supervision and potentially in multiple specialty areas, contributing to the department's standard work and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients, take appropriate vital signs, review current medications and record in medical record.
  • Coordinate or serve as liaison for administrative and clinical support activities including facilities management, patient billing, utilization management, quality management, risk management, human resources, and payroll.
  • Coordinate communication between patients, family members, medical staff, administrative staff, insurance plans, and other departments.
  • Manage patient care flow and assist with monitoring CS-Link message pools and standard work.
  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement new protocols or procedures that improve efficiency and patient outcomes.
  • Monitor own workflow independently to meet the requirements of their position at a level of expertise that requires minimal supervision.
  • Assist with tracking and supervising department-specific data.
  • Explain policies, procedures, or services to patients using clinical or administrative knowledge, based on scope of practice.
  • Sweep clinical areas to monitor inventory based on standard work; clean/re-process equipment and supplies based on standard work and department guidelines.
  • Address patient, physician, and staff concerns and resolve problems accordingly.
  • Provide assistance and direct patient inquiries or complaints to appropriate medical staff members and follow up to ensure satisfactory resolution.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs, conduct regular audits of clinical practices and patient care processes.
  • Provide assistance in QA measures for suites, including recording QC testing on designated equipment.
  • Assist with the management of physician schedules and identify opportunities for improvement; handle patient/provider correspondence as instructed.
  • May lead daily huddles and staff meetings and participate in performance improvement activities within the local assigned department.
  • Adhere to all infection prevention standards, department policies and guidelines.
  • Train new medical assistants on clinical procedures, patient interaction, and use of medical equipment.
  • Provide mentorship on patient care and office protocols.
  • Provide ongoing education and support to the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
