About The Position

MCW Consultants is seeking a Senior Mechanical Technologist to join our growing Truro office. This role is ideal for an experienced technologist who enjoys developing high-quality construction documents, coordinating with multidisciplinary design teams, and contributing to the successful delivery of complex building projects. Working closely with engineers and project teams, you will play a key role in the design and documentation of healthcare, institutional, commercial, and public-sector facilities throughout Atlantic Canada. This is an office-based position located in Truro, Nova Scotia. Our office is home to a close-knit team of approximately 10 engineers, technologists, and administrative professionals, covering both mechanical and electrical disciplines. While you'll enjoy the friendly, collaborative environment of a small office, you'll also have the support of our larger offices throughout the Maritimes, giving you the opportunity to contribute to projects of all sizes and complexities.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Experience developing and coordinating mechanical building system models and construction documents.
  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Strong understanding of construction documentation and industry best practices.
  • Experience coordinating projects with multiple disciplines.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative project team.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel occasionally to project sites.

  • Preference given to candidates who have achieved C.E.T. status.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and coordinate mechanical construction drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system layouts in collaboration with engineers and project teams.
  • Coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, electrical, and civil disciplines.
  • Review drawings for completeness, accuracy, constructability, and compliance with company standards.
  • Periodically needed to conduct field measurements and site surveys for renovation and retrofit projects throughout Nova Scotia.
  • Support contract administration activities including shop drawing reviews and responses to contractor inquiries.
  • Assist with project coordination and communication throughout the design and construction process.
  • Support and mentor junior CAD and Revit staff.
  • Contribute to continual improvements in drafting standards, workflows, and project delivery processes.
