About The Position

Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking a Senior Mechanical Systems Design & Analysis Engineer to join their 787 Mechanical Systems (Environmental Control Systems, Hydraulics, Flight Deck Design, & Flight Controls) Design Engineering team in North Charleston, South Carolina. This role supports the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design for the 787 Program in a sustaining production environment. Project examples include addressing design obsolescence, developing product improvements, supporting production build and test, supporting new customer introduction, and supporting the in-service fleet.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry.
14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
15+ years of experience with Mechanical Systems
15+ years of professional experience working in an engineering field
15+ years of experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools
15+ years of experience working with cross-functional teams
Ability to travel domestically and internationally 10%
Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Responsibilities

Directs the development and documentation of large scale, complex mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design.
Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.
Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
Serves as technical consultant for disposition, corrective actions and coordination with cross-functional groups to identify/implement solutions and drive strategic improvements relative to production processes.
Coaches and mentors others.
Works under consultative direction.
