About The Position

This position involves researching and analyzing data such as client design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine the feasibility of a design or application. The engineer will work with clients to develop a project’s scope of work, estimates, and/or schedules. Key responsibilities include reviewing and approving project drawings, standards, and specifications, as well as developing major equipment and material selections and construction specifications. The role requires the use of computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and laws. Support will be provided during fabrication and installation phases to ensure engineering documents are followed, and coordination with other project disciplines involved in fabrication, operation, application, and installation or repair of various materials, products, or systems is essential. The position also involves providing technical direction, support, and information to other engineers, designers, and drafters. The role requires consistent demonstration of professional skills in structuring assigned activities, creativity, teamwork, communication, operational efficiencies, handling client needs, decision-making, and problem-solving. Other duties pertinent to the department or unit’s success may also be assigned. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited institution required.
  • Must have Alaska PE license.
  • Minimum five (5) years engineering experience in the oil and gas industry required.
  • Minimum two (2) years off-pad pipeline engineering experience.
  • Engineering experience for projects on the North Slope – Alaska required.
  • Responsible engineering experience including arctic pipeline, process piping, and/or HVAC system work.
  • Prior experience should have included familiarity with ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8 piping codes and material specifications, and with ASHRAE standards.
  • Must be able to work independently, and with project team.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to management and client.
  • Comprehend and apply principles of calculus, modern algebra and statistical theory.
  • Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations and proofs and theorems.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to work projects.
  • Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to deal with non-verbal symbols (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in the most difficult phases.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, word processing software; Excel spreadsheet software; Outlook e-mail software; and any other discipline-specific design or analysis software, as required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers, clients or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of MS Word, word processing software, and MS Excel spreadsheet software.

  • Proficiency in Bentley AutoPIPE or other piping stress analysis software preferred.
