About The Position

CMTA, a Legence company, is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its rapidly growing Energy Solutions division. This role is crucial for expanding CMTA's market reach and leading performance contracting projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual with a strong technical background, particularly in HVAC design and commissioning, who can lead all phases of client projects and contribute to business growth. The Energy Solutions division focuses on sustainable, high-performance building engineering, leveraging a data-driven, holistic approach to consulting engineering, performance contracting, and zero energy projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with an Energy Services company OR a consulting engineering/commissioning firm.
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited university.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of performance contracts for clients, from conception to completion, serving as the primary point of contact.
  • Introduce and explain performance contracting to potential clients, identifying opportunities for CMTA’s solutions.
  • Articulate CMTA’s unique value proposition in both technical and financial terms.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to foster repeat business, referrals, and long-term partnerships.
  • Participate in business development efforts, including client meetings, industry events, and proposal development.
  • Lead the development phase, including site visits, audits, and energy calculations.
  • Direct the engineering design team in producing drawings and specifications.
  • Direct the bidding process to ensure quality and competitive outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the client to finalize the performance contract.
  • Work with the construction manager to ensure a smooth construction period.
  • Direct the commissioning process to validate performance.
  • Support the client through the warranty phase as needed.
  • Work with the Measurement & Verification (M&V) professional to develop the first-year M&V report.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of state-specific K-12 design-build procurement processes, ensuring alignment with state and district requirements.
