About The Position

IMEG is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team in a brand-new Manhattan office, leading design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for moderate to complex healthcare projects. In this role, you’ll work closely with engineers and consultants to provide project direction, deliver engineering solutions, mentor team members, and help drive successful client outcomes. The Mechanical Team Highlights include designing HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems, central plants, building automation and controls, and energy recovery solutions. They use lifecycle analysis, rapid energy modeling, and sustainable design practices to support occupant comfort, superior indoor air quality, and reduced energy consumption. The team contributes to innovative, high-performance mechanical designs across facilities such as high-rises and hospitals, and has experience with advanced HVAC system design (including geothermal systems, chilled beams, and industrial ventilation). The team has also been recognized with multiple international ASHRAE Technology Awards for energy-efficient HVAC designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • Advanced proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems
  • Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
