About The Position

Senior-level mechanical engineers in a design-build firm play a critical role in ensuring the successful design, construction, and operation of mechanical systems in buildings and infrastructure projects. Their duties and responsibilities are extensive and encompass various aspects of the project lifecycle. This role involves providing technical leadership, overseeing the design and analysis of mechanical systems, ensuring code compliance, and supporting construction activities. The engineer will also focus on energy efficiency, sustainability, and client satisfaction.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
  • Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team on projects.
  • Develop and oversee the design of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Perform calculations, simulations, and analysis to ensure system performance and compliance with codes and standards.
  • Review and approve designs created by junior engineers and drafters.
  • Ensure that all mechanical designs adhere to relevant building codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Stay updated on industry codes and standards, and integrate them into design processes.
  • Stay current with the latest developments in mechanical engineering and apply innovative solutions to projects.
  • Resolve complex technical issues related to mechanical systems.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to understand their needs and address any concerns.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations.
  • Incorporate energy-efficient and sustainable design principles into mechanical systems to reduce environmental impact and operating costs.
  • Evaluate and recommend renewable energy solutions when appropriate.
  • Provide technical support during the construction phase, including responding to contractor inquiries and conducting site visits.
