Assystem mobilizes 8,000 experts in 13 countries and intervenes across the entire project lifecycle, in engineering, project management and digital solutions. This is a 6-month Umbrella company contract role for a skilled Principal or Senior Mechanical Engineer with a passion for delivering cutting-edge solutions in a highly regulated industry. The role involves checking detailed design calculations for mechanical and structural designs in a dynamic, problem-solving environment.

Requirements

• BEng (2:1 or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Proven experience in mechanical engineering within a highly regulated sector.
• Strong Knowledge of design for fabrication, welding and manufacturing tolerancing.
• Specification of heavy industry design experience such as offshore, oil and gas, construction equipment, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and structural engineering principles, including mechanical handling, design for manufacture and machinery design.
• Experience with MathCAD and FEA software (ANSYS, STAAD).
• Sole UK nationals only.
• Must be eligible to gain SC clearance (can start on BPSS).

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Eurocode 3, BS EN 13001, BS EN 13155 or similar crane related standards is desirable.
• Experience with hydraulics and control systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage the development, review, and checking of technical documentation, including verification of detailed design drawings, calculations, and compliance documentation.
• Work with Autodesk Inventor, MathCAD, AutoCAD, and FEA tools.
