Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline (Master's Degree preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience designing mechanical systems for building projects.
  • Demonstrated healthcare project experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system design.
  • Thorough understanding of applicable building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and engineering judgment.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex engineering projects simultaneously.
  • Commitment to sustainable, high-performance building design.
  • Ability to work full-time in the Charlotte office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and engineering of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for healthcare and commercial building projects.
  • Develop innovative mechanical solutions that prioritize energy efficiency, sustainability, constructability, and long-term building performance.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and other design professionals to seamlessly integrate building systems.
  • Perform engineering calculations, load analyses, energy modeling, and system evaluations to optimize project performance and lifecycle costs.
  • Prepare detailed construction documents, specifications, and Revit models that meet applicable building codes and industry standards.
  • Select appropriate mechanical equipment and materials based on project requirements, sustainability goals, and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal project teams throughout all phases of design and construction.
  • Review construction progress, respond to RFIs, evaluate submittments, and provide engineering support during construction administration.
  • Incorporate sustainable design strategies and energy-efficient technologies into every project.
  • Support project budgeting and collaborate with estimating teams to develop cost-effective engineering solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers while providing technical leadership across multiple projects.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining quality, schedule, and client satisfaction.
