The Advanced Airframes Department within Raytheon Hardware Engineering provides Mechanical Engineering support to develop solutions for products across the Raytheon portfolio. Our core mechanical engineering responsibilities include requirements/conceptual development, design, integration, and test support. We partner with several Mechanical Product Team departments to provide full system solutions. The Advanced Airframes Department is currently hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to fulfill the role of Additive Manufacturing (AM) Design Engineer. Tasks will include program support across Raytheon Strategic Business Units to facilitate design considerations and implementation of Additive Manufacturing in deliverable production hardware. In addition, this role will include participation in Supplier engagements to evaluate capability, audit quality and process controls and support ongoing production orders in support of various programs.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience in Design for Additive Manufacturing
  • Experience in the application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles (ASME Y14.5)
  • Experience with CAD modeling (CREO preferred)
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Ability to obtain INTERIM U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date

Nice To Haves

  • 8 years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience executing across the development lifecycle.
  • Work independently to develop and execute a robust engineering development plan.
  • Working knowledge of fabrication processes, producibility enhancements, and inspection and validation methods
  • Working knowledge of inspection planning, inspection methods and dimensional data analysis
  • Working knowledge of various Additive Manufacturing modalities and processes

Responsibilities

  • Work with programs to assess the feasibility of AM implementation including design and cost considerations.
  • Concurrently support multiple programs to facilitate development, fabrication and qualification of AM hardware.
  • Work with Quality, Operations and Supply Chain teams to establish a robust network of AM sources.
  • Facilitate the creation of Technical Data Packages that effectively convey design intent as well as functional and quality requirements.
  • Train and mentor other design engineers on basic principles of Design For Additive Manufacturing as well as specific considerations for Raytheon product families.
