This role involves a Mechanical Engineer with strong hands-on capabilities and a practical background, ideally with prior robotics hardware design experience. The position requires rapid development, testing, and iteration of mechanical systems from concept to delivery, including robotic joints and test fixtures, while managing cost, DFM/DFX, and compliance.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with basic shop tools and mechanical assembly tools
  • Mastery of engineering fundamentals/first principles
  • High proficiency in CAD (Onshape, Creo, SolidWorks, or similar)
  • Electromechanical design experience
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration
  • Outstanding organization and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Finite Element Analysis

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering with 3+ years of relevant industry experience

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a small cross-disciplinary team of engineers
  • Participate in creative brainstorming for concept generation
  • Conduct engineering analysis to drive design decisions
  • Compare concepts via iterative design, prototype, assembly, and test
  • Lead design reviews at the CoDR, PDR, and CDR level for your system
  • Detailed design of structures, joints, mechanisms, and actuators
  • Perform analysis (FEA, etc.) to optimize and validate design
  • Create GD&T-informed drawings, a Bill of Materials, and procurement documentation
  • Produce assembly instructions and finalize project documentation
  • Participate in pilot build of design
  • Make test, validation, and maintenance plans for mechanical systems
  • Respond to customer feedback and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
